Mrs. Sara Faye Drake Adair Thorne passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born on August 1, 1923 in Winters, Texas to Lelia Mae Hodnett Drake and Aldolphus Drake.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Adair and wife Janice; two grandsons, Jeff Adair, wife Jodi and John Adair, wife Robin; and four great-grandchildren, Connor, Camden, Ben, and Sam.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ralph Drake; two sisters, Ruth and June Drake, and her husband, Fred Thorne.
Following her graduation from Alexander City High School, Sara began working at Russell Corporation. She worked in the Purchasing and Cost Accounting Department for 47 years.
Sara enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to travel and took many historical trips throughout the states with her friends and family. Most of all, she loved her many trips she would take to Seagrove Beach, Florida. Sara always had a bag packed and ready to go whenever.
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority also held a special place in her heart. The sorority had been a very important part of her life, and she had held almost every office in the group. She cherished her friends she made in the sorority during her membership of over 50 years.
Sara was at one time an avid painter. She took lessons for years and enjoyed painting for pleasure. The annual Library Art Show was one of Sara's favorite events and it has benefited from her volunteered service for many years.
During Sara's retirement years, she was a member of the Circle of Love and Rejuvenate group at First Methodist. She enjoyed her walking exercise groups with her friends and shared many meals and memories with her friends there.
