The remains of Mr. William Henry Penland arrived in Greeneville Sunday afternoon on train No. 25 from John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore where he had been for treatment, and were taken to the home of his sister, Miss Victoria Penland, South Main Street. Mr. Penland was born and reared in Cocke County, and was for a number of years trustee of the county. For the past four years he has been residing in the lower end of the county near Warrensburg.

The death of Mr. Penland came as a shock to his many friends and relatives here who, although aware of his grave condition, had hoped that he might again be restored to health. The deceased was 72 years of age. He is survived by his widow, three sisters and three brothers, as follows: Messrs. John Penland, of Del Rio, Tenn.; R. T. Penland, of California: A. W. Penland, of Columbia, SC: Mrs. Eunice Trotter, of Sevierville, Tenn.; Miss Dora Penland, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Miss Victoria Penland, this city.

The remains will be taken to Newport, the old home of the deceased for internment. The funeral cortage will leave here about 8 o'clock tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and upon arrival at Newport funeral services will be conducted at the Methodist church at 11 o'clock a.m.
