Alice E. (Blaisdell) Buckley, 82, a native and lifelong resident of Groveland MA, died
October 19, 2012, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston MA. Daughter of the late Joseph[sic] and Esther (Sweetser) Blaisdell, she was educated in the Groveland School System and graduated Groveland High School.
An avid and accomplished tennis player, Mrs. Buckley worked for many years as the Manager of the Pro-Shop at Cedardale Health and Athletic Club in Ward Hill MA and was a longtime member of Cedardale-Groveland. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Alice was predeceased by her husband James E. Buckley, Jr., who died in 1977; brothers Joseph Blaisdell, John Blaisdell, and William Blaisdell; and sisters Anna Hatch and Mary LaBranche.
She is survived by her son James E. Buckley III and wife Monica of Haverhill MA; daughters Kathleen A. Poirier and husband Michael of North Stonington CT, and Laurie J. Powell of Methuen MA; son-in-law Richard Powell of South Lawrence MA; brother Frederick Blaisdell of Atkinson NH, sisters Barbara Wilbur and Esther Roche, both of Groveland; grandchildren James E. Buckley IV, Andrew A. Buckley, Brian M. Poirier, Jonathan M. Poirier, Julianne Poirier, Sean J. Powell, and Megan E. Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow Village, N.H. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
