Once a Prominent Lawyer, Associated With P. H. Cullen.
William A. Edmonston, 66 years old, residing East Liberty street, this city, committed suicide at his home last Saturday morning by slashing his throat with a razor. His body was found about six o'clock by his wife in the back yard.

Mr. Edmonston was stricken with paralysis about live years ago and lately he was stricken again. He was able to get around and to be up town but he suffered from sleeplessness and the whole night would pass at times without his being able to sleep at all. He had no hopes of relief from his affliction, and this is supposed to have been the cause of his suicide. He had told members of his family that he could not endure his suffering much longer.

Deceased was born in Callaway county, in 1846. His first wife was a sister of W. A. Sharp of this city. She died a number of years ago. His second wife was Miss Carrie Rankin, who survives him. One child survives him by his first marriage, Mrs. J. E. Wallace, of Colorado City. A son, Paul Edmonston, of this city, by his first marriage, also survives him. A sister, Mrs. N. V. Bates, of Los Angeles, Cali., also survives him. The Rev. J. O. Edmonston of this city is a brother.

Mr. Edmonston studied law here under the late Judge W. O. Forrist and later was a law partner here with P. H. Cullen.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. C. Handy. The pall bearers were D. M. Roberts, Wm. Vivion, James Pledge, Chas. Holt, Austin Calhoun and Chas. Leeper. The following members of the Audrain County Bar attended the funeral in a body: D. A. Murphy, John T. Baker, S. D. Stocks, A. C. Whitson, W. J. Fry, Wallace W. Fry, R. D. Rodgers, W. W. Botts, F. R.
