Mary L. Lawson was the daughter of William Hugh Lawson (1842-1893) and Julia Addie Stone Lawson (1845-1893).

She was married in 1930 in Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona to Samuel Justice Spotts (1873-1947). There were no children of this marriage.

Funeral services for Mrs. Spotts. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lawson Spotts, 78, of Sandersville, who died Monday, Mar 15th at a local hospital, were held Wed morning, Mar 17 in the Chapel of Mayo Funeral Home at 11:00 am. The Rev Ernest Veal, pastor of her church, the Sandersville Methodist church, officiated. Interment followed in Old City Cemetery.

Mrs. Spotts, the former Miss Mary Lawson, was born Jan 30, 1887 in Washington County, a daughter of the late William Hugh Lawson and Mrs. Addie Stone Lawson. She was a retired nurse and widow of J. S. Spotts.

Survivors include her brother, John S. Lawson of Sandersville, several nieces and nephews, five step-children, Russell Spotts, Harold Spotts, of Laveen, Arizona, W. E. Spotts, of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Kathleen Elson, Los Angeles.

Pallbearers were Lewis West, Robert Waugh, La Grange; B.T. Rawlings, W. N. Summerlin, D. William Rawlings, & Dr. Joe Lever.
