Adam Mutersbaugh, Formerly of Waynesboro, Died Suddenly in
Chambersburg Saturday
Adam Mutersbaugh, Aged 75 Yrs.
Adam Mutersbaugh, a former resident of Waynesboro, died suddenly in Chambersburg Saturday morning.
He was riding in the meat delivery wagon of W. H. Smith, when, on Baltimore avenue, he suddenly fell to the floor of the vehicle in an unconscious state. The team was near the Chambersburg hospital and it was hurried there but Mr. Mutersbaugh was dead when it reached the place.
Mr. Mutersbaugh, who lived with his adopted daughter, Mrs. Charles Summers, went down street in his usual health Saturday and his death was altogether unexpected.
He was born and reared near Grindstone Hill where he owned a farm. About five years ago his wife died and he moved to Waynesboro where he resided for three years with Charles Summers, in South Waynesboro. When Mr. Summers moved to Chambersburg, two years ago, he accompanied him.
He was aged 7o years and is survived by no relatives except, a distant one, Andrew Kreitzer, Scotland.
He was a retired farmer and was a man of more than ordinary reading and intelligence. He had many friends and was of a kindly, cheerful disposition.
Adam Andrews, South Broad street extended, was at one time employed by Mutersbaugh, said he was always warm and pleasant.
Only two weeks ago Mr. Mutersbaugh visited Waynesboro and spent the night
with Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. Then he seemed in the best of health and very
cheerful. He was an Old soldier, and had a good record for bravery and hard service.
To show the characteristics of Mr. Mutersbaugh, it is told that three years ago
he had his grave dug at the Grindstone HillCemetery.
