Mr. James was a 1946 graduate of Hampton High. He was a member of Grafton Christian Church, Grafton, and as a child and during his teen-age years, he was an acolyte for the historic St. John's Church, Hampton. He was also an Army veteran of World War II. During the 1960s, he was a member of the Peninsula Sportscar Club, and he retired from NASA in 1984 as an electrical engineer with 33 years of service.
A graveside service was held Monday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in Grafton Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John Falk officiating. The family received friends following the service at the home of the deceased. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is in charge of arrangements.
