Marvin Gail Kerwood passed away on November 4, 2012 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE. Marvin was born March 17, 1931 at Alexandria, NE., the second child of Donald and Ruth (DeFrain) Kerwood.

Marvin was baptized April 16, 1933 at the Alexandria (NE.) Presbyterian Church. He joined the church Jan. 4, 1948. Marvin was active in the church serving as an elder and deacon. He attended rural school districts in the Alexandria, NE. area and graduated from Alexandria (NE.) High School in 1948. He was married to Mildred Zweifel March 9, 1957 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fairbury, NE. They made their home on a farm north of Alexandria, NE. To this union was born four children Debra, Dianne, Doyle and Dawn. He was in a farming partnership with his father and brother, Raymond. Marvin and Mildred retired in 2005 and moved to Fairbury, NE. Marvin served in the United States Marine Corps from March 28, 1952 – March 27, 1954. He spent 11 weeks at Camp Pendelton, CA. In September 1952 he was sent to Korea where he served in the Infantry until December 1953. Marvin was a member of the Thayer (NE.) County Feeders Association and the Alexandria (NE.) Community Club. He was a member of the Alexandria (NE.) Rural Fire Department for 36 years. He was a member of Alexandria (NE.) American Legion Post 194, VFW Post 3113 in Fairbury and a 60 year member of the Masonic Hebron (NE.) Lodge #43. Marvin lived his whole life in Nebraska and was blessed with the richness of farm life. On the family farm he assisted with the planting and harvesting of many crops. He had a passion for taking care of cattle and shared this gift with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fan following several Husker teams. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many activities.

Marvin was preceded in death by: parents and parents-in-law Paul and Grace Zweifel.

Burial was in the Alexandria Cemetery, Alexandria, NE.
