David Hobbs

Shawnee resident David Hobbs died Saturday in a local hospital. He was 41.

He was born Oct. 19, 1957, in Shawnee to Charles W. Hobbs and Jo Ann (Short) Hobbs. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1975 and graduated from Sooner Mechanical Trade School of Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Charles School of Hair Design and was an instructor. He taught cosmetology for several years and worked in construction.

He married Lara May Hobbs on April 19, 1993, in Shawnee and lived here all his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Sr. and Willie Hobbs, and Jessie and Velma Short.

Surviving are his wife, Lara May Hobbs of the home; two children, Cody Wayne Hobbs and Sabra Lei Hobbs of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary Charles and Cathy Hobbs of Shawnee and Larry Joe Hobbs of Shawnee and Carla Hobbs of Meeker; a nephew, Dustin Charles Hobbs; two nieces, Katie Ann Hobbs and Lacy Rayanne Hobbs; 12 cousins; his mother and father, Charles W. and JoAnn Hobbs of Shawnee; and his mother-in-law, LaDonna (May) Epperson.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
