Irma Wielinski was born in Hamburg, Germany on February 3, 1927, passed away Friday November 9, 2012. Mrs. Wielinski was a survivor of numerous Hamburg bombings during World War II. When the war ended, she met and married her husband, Zygmunt Wielinski whild living in Hamburg. In 1957, the family, with their two children, Barbara and Klaus, ages 4 and 9 years of age respectively, immigrated to Ohio. The family was sponsored by the Methodist Church and settled into a rural life in Kenton, Ohio where her husband worked in the Durez Plastics factory and she was a wife and mother. In her 40's, Mrs. Wielinski learned to paint at a nieghbor's art class and from that point onward, became a lifelong artist. Throughout her time in Ohio, Mrs. Wielinski was an active member of her silver Creek Church, avid bicycler, and a well-regarded artist. She also shared her experiences as a survivor in Germany during World War II with the local high school students.

After the passing of her husband in 2005, Mrs. Wielinski moved to Laguna Woods, California in 2007 to reside closer to her daughter, Barbara. In Laguna Woods, Mrs. Wielinski was a very active member of her Laguna Country United Methodist Church and community, including the German Club, Laguna Woods Art Association, Saddleback Hospital Volunteer, and Lovers of Music. She was known as a clever, thoughtful, self-assured, decisive, sophisticated, self-taught, and well-read woman. She loved crossword puzzles, a good game of Scrabble, classical music, opera, attending concerts, swimming, painting, knitting, and quilting. After moving to California took exercise, art, business, and investment classes from Saddleback College. She was also a savvoy Jeopardy player and rarely missed a show. She was a testament to the strength of the human spirit to rise above great tragedies with great courage. She was beloved by her family, friends, church, and community and she will be missed by all.

Mrs. Wielinski is survived by her two children Barbara Straw and Klaus Wielinski; 7 grandchildren, Krisianna Bock, Talena Garman, Tarl Straw Gary Wielinski, Larry Wielinski, April Neice, Robin Hammond; 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

A memorial servicd will be held in Laguna Hills, California, also a memorial service will be held at the Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, Kenton, Ohio on Monday November 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Mark Burden will officiate the service. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery.
