J. E. (Joe) Pelkie

KENTON, March 28 - Funeral services for J. E. (Joe) Pelkie, 62, for many years a restaurant operator here, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Catholic church here. Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview cemetery.

Pelkie died at his home here early Thursday after a serious illness of asthmatic heart since last December. He had been in failing health for the last three years. He was born in Chatham, Ontario, on June 7, 1878, but had lived in Kenton since 1906 with the exception of six years which he spent at Coldwater, Mich. He owned and operated several different restaurants in Kenton. He was a member of the Elks lodge in Coldwater.

He was married on March 27, 1907 to Blanche Rainsburg. He died on his 34th wedding anniversary, of which a celebration had been planned.

Surviving are the widow; his father, Samuel Pelkie of Chatham, Ont.; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Garceau, Mrs. Emma Amlaw and Georgia Pelkie, all of Massachusetts, and two brothers, Louis Pelkie of Ann Arbor, Mich., and George Pelkie of North Adams, Mass.

The body will remain at the Schindewolf funeral home where friends may call. Members of the local Elks lodge will hold rites Friday at 8 p.m.
