Charles Huntoon, born in Unity NH, son of Robert Huntoon and Anna Weed, there is some speculation about where he is actually buried.
His first wife Eliza Ann is buried in Franconia, NH, there is no stone there for Charles, either because it was stolen, vandalized, no one purchased one, he was disinterned or he isn't buried there. His death certificate is signed by Nathan Kidder, City Clerk in Manchester, NH even though he died in Franconia, NH. It ususally the place of burial that indicates where a person is buried when the City Clerk signs off on the death certificate, often there are two one where a person died and one where they are buried.

His married his first wife Eliza Ann Bartlett in March of 1837, he also married a Nancy Marie Bartlett Balch, this writer wonders if they may have been sisters, .although no marriage certificate could be located Charles and Nancy Huntoon were running a boarding house in Manchester in 1860, Nancy was also widowed, her husband being Samuel Balch 4/2/1835. The boarding house in 1850 was run by Samuel and Nancy Balch. In 1860 it is being run by Charles Huntoon and Nancy Huntoon, with two of her children living thre. The 1870s find Charles in Lawrence, Mass working as a laborer and Nancy is listed as a domestic, and of course his story ends in Franconia, NH in 1879.

Boarding houses were a very profitable way of life in Manchester, NH as the city built more and more manufacturing factories/mills. At one time it was the largest manufactuing base in the world. Everything was made here including Levi Jeans. Boarding houses were ideal for single men/women and young families, breakfast, usually a packed lunch or go home for lunch if permitted and then a hot meal at the end of the 12-16 hour day. The only issue was disease, it ran rampart once someone had something, especially consumption.
