HAMPTON - Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Harold Carlton Lewis, 73, a survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, died Saturday, Aug. 7.

He was stationed with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks during the attack.

Mr. Lewis served in the Army 26 years, retiring in 1967. He was later a civil service management analyst for the Army Transportation and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, retiring in 1980 after 11 years.

Mr. Lewis was a member of the Retired Officers Association. The Peninsula resident since 1966 was a native of Charleston, W.Va.

Survived by his wife, Jeanne H. Lewis; two daughters, Jayne L. Day of Falls Church and Donna L. Lewis of Neptune Beach, Fla.; a sister, Phyllis J. Rutledge of Charleston; a brother, Roger Lewis of St. Albans, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral with full military honors at 1 p.m. today at Chapel of the Centurion, Fort Monroe, by Chaplain (Col.) Malcolm Roberts. Burial in Parklawn Memorial Park.
