Enlisted on 6/27/1863 at Tyler County, WV., he was mustered into Company C, 46th Virginia Battalion Cavalry as a Private.
Present or accounted for on all Rolls until POW 10/9/1864; no POW records found.
On 2/2/1865 the battalion was merged with the 47th Battalion Virginia Cavalry.
Paroled 5/12/1865 Staunton, VA.; Paroled as member of Company C, 46th Virginia Battalion Cavalry.

The 26th Virginia Cavalry Regiment was formed in December, 1864, by consolidating the 46th and 47th Battalions Virginia Cavalry. The unit served in W.L. Jackson's Brigade and was active in various conflicts in the Shenandoah Valley. It disbanded during the spring of 1865.
