J. M. "Jack" Carter, 84, died Saturday at his home following a long illness.
He was a native of Daytona Beach and was raised in Hastings and East Palatka, where he had lived most of his life. He had owned and operated Carter's Nursery in East Palatka for many years. He was a member of Hastings United Methodist Church and member of Hastings Lodge 183, F&AM. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army.
He is survived by his brother, Stuart B. Carter of Dothan, Ala.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka with the Rev. John D. Arnold officiating and followed by Masonic graveside services conducted by Hastings Lodge 183 F&AM.
