Born in Kilnaleck, Kilmore, Ireland, on February 11, 1840, Brady was ordained to the priesthood on December 4, 1864. Appointed Auxiliary for the Archdiocese of Boston and Bishop of the Titular See of Alabanda, he received his episcopal consecration on August 5, 1891, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross from John Joseph Williams, Archbishop of Boston, assisted by Patrick Thomas O'Reilly, Bishop of Springfield and by Matthew Harkins, Bishop of Providence. He died at his residence in South Boston, a few days after suffering a paralytic shock on January 6, 1910, aged 67, and lies buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury, Massachusetts.
