FORMER SPIRITUALIST LEADER HERE IS DEAD
I n f o r m a t i o n was received here y e s t e r d a y of the death late Tuesday at Lordsburg, N. M., of Mrs. Alice E. Fields Sheridan, 63 years old, organizer and • p a s t o r of the E a s t Joplin Spiritualist church more t h a n twenty-five years.
Mrs. Sheridan, who formerly resided at 1323 Hill street, had been in ill h e a l t h for more t h a n a year. She had been s t a y i n g at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Weaver Huff, at Miami, for several weeks. Saturday, she and Mrs. Huff left for
Phoenix, Ariz., where Mrs. Sherid a n was to m a k e an extended visit at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Roy Martin, in an a t t e m p t to regain her health. She died before r e a c h i n g Phoenix. Mrs. Sheridan organized what is believed to have been the first S p i r i t u a l i s t church in this district in East Joplin, and was pastor of t h e church until it burned, Halloween night,, a year ago. Mrs. Sarah Scoville of Columbus, Kan., formerly was associated with her in the church. Mrs. Sheridan had resided in this vicinity approximately f o r t y years. ' Surviving, besides Mrs. Huff and Mrs. Martin, are t h r e e other daught e r s , Mrs. Ed. Dye of Summitt, 111., Mrs. H a r r y K r u g e r of Chicago, and Mrs. Harvey Stroke of Farmlngton, Colo.; three sons, Stearns Fields of California, Burgess Fields of Palatine, 111., a n d Charles Fields of California, and two sisters. The body will be received here by the Frank-Sievers Undertaking Company, and burial will be here.
