DUMAS — Avin Wesley Brownlee, 99, formerly of Dumas, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Avin was born March 28, 1913, in Jack Country to George Lewis and Elizabeth Plimper Brownlee. He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II. Avin married Ora Mae Hood on Oct. 2, 1941.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ora Mae of Amarillo; four children, Avin Scott Brownlee and wife Nancy of Sugarland, Elizabeth Briscoe and husband Bill of Canyon, George Brownlee of Houston and Mike Brownlee and wife Brenda of Stratford; a sister, Lennis Brandenburg of Jacksboro; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, Senior Adult Choir, P.O. Box 617, Dumas, TX 79029; Moore County Senior Center, P.O. Box 2114, Dumas, TX 79029; or a favorite charity.
