Pearle Tilley, daughter of R.H. (Dick)
and Emma Tilley was born July 7, 1880,
at the home in Rock Township, Marshall
County, Kansas and spent her early years
in that home now known as the Clyde
Rodkey place. She attended the Marshall
county schools. Then enrolled in a Musical
Conservatory in Chicago and upon graduation
opened a Studio in Joliet, Illinois; returning
to the home in 1918 to care for her father in
his last illness. The next years she enrolled in
Fine Arts School of Kansas University.
On June 19, 1920, she was united in marriage
to Charles U. Babbs of Tuscon, Arizona.
later they moved to San Fernando, California,
where she passed away June 1, 1960 at the
age of 79 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
Her husband preceded her in death in October
1958. She leaves to mourn her death two
brothers, Oscar Tilley, California and Clyde
Tilley, Portland, Oregon, and their families,
a number of cousins and many friends.
Memorial services were held at Noble Chapel
in San Fernando, California on June 3, 1960
and the body was shipped to Frankfort,
Kansas where graveside services were held
on Monday morning and burial was beside
her husband in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
