Lois Butterfield, age 91, of Meadville, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
A funeral service will be Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Meadville with Pastor Richard Casady officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Meadville Cemetery in Meadville. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield.

Memorials to the Meadville United Methodist Church or the Meadville Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.

Helen Lois, daughter of Paul and Mary (Stinson) Nighswonger, was born September 4, 1921, in Viola, Kansas. On January 27, 1945, she married Gene Butterfield who preceded her in death on July 11, 2008.

Mrs. Butterfield was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Meadville where she served as organist for over forty years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Home Culture Club in Meadville.

Survivors include one son, Larry Butterfield of Brentwood; one daughter, Cheryl Cooper of Chandler, Arizona; four grandchildren, Betsy Webb and husband, Ryan of Kirkwood, Katie Butterfield of Brentwood, Brent Cooper and wife, Kathy of Concordia and Kristen Swigert and husband, Scott of Windsor; six great-grandchildren, Cailey Cooper, Cameron Cooper, and Cate Cooper all of Concordia, Makayla Swigert and Barr Swigert both of Windsor, and Samantha Webb of Kirkwood; two brothers, Lester Nighswonger and wife, Phyllis of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Roger Nighswonger and wife, Linda of Cypress, Texas; and one sister, Pat Kirby and husband, Jack of Georgetown, Texas.

Her parents; one brother, Doel Nighswonger; a daughter-in-law, Lainie Butterfield; and a son-in-law, David Cooper also preceded her in death.
