NEWPORT NEWS — Ann Seals Hodges-Ratliff, 63, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., and a former resident of Martinsville, Va., Mrs. Hodges-Ratliff had been a Peninsula resident since 1964. Mrs. Hodges-Ratliff graduated from Drewery Mason High School, Martinsville. She attended the University of Virginia. Mrs. Hodges-Ratliff retired from Bank of Virginia in 1982 as a customer-service representative, with 15 years of service. She was a member of Grafton Christian Church, Grafton, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 13, Hampton, and the Warwick Moose Lodge. Mrs. Hodges-Ratliff is preceded in death by her husbands, James R. Hodges Sr. and Harry Ratliff. A funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Amory Funeral Home Chapel, Grafton, with the Rev. Joseph D. Carson officiating. Burial was private. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Arthritis Foundation, Peninsula Branch, 12388 Warwick Blvd., No. 209, Newport News, VA 23606.
