Melissa Hensley, age 43, of Greeneville died early Sunday morning at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Hensley was a member of First Baptist Church of Greeneville.
She was a teacher at Fugate Hill Head Start.
She served on the Community Emergency Response Team, volunteered for the EMA at the 4-H Center for the Katrina victims, and was a Tennessee Disaster Relief Volunteer.
She also enjoyed camping and was an avid 4-wheeler rider.
Survivors include her husband: Cale Hensley; one son: Dominick Hensley; her parents: Claude and Irene Swatzell; two sisters: Susie and John Spier of Hydepark, Pa., and Barbara and Jerry Darnell; one brother: Bill and Shane Swatzell; one sister-in-law: Michealine and Darrell Cantrell; four brothers-in-law: Marvin and Gail Hensley, Michael and Cindy Hensley, Cephas and Kim Hensley, and Hunter and Kathy Hensley; her nieces: Shonya Swatzell, Chastity and Casey West, Heather Spier, Anna Renée Spier, Jessica Shelton, Brittany Hensley, Heather Hensley, and April Watford; her nephews: Jake Swatzell, Thomas Quillen, Derrick Hoskins, Tony Hensley, Tyler and Tiffany Hensley and Logan Hensley; several aunts and uncles and cousins; her special cousins, "The Golden Girls:" Tammy Swatzell, Kim Swatzell, Shane Swatzell, and Lori Moffet.
Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her grandparents: James and Blanche Woody and Dave and Ida Swatzell; and one sister-in-law: Paulette Hensley.
Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hensley will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dr. David Green will officiate.
Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include her nephews: Jake Swatzell, Thomas Quillen, Derrick Hoskins, Tony Hensley, Tyler Hensley, and Logan Hensley.
