Alice Marion FitzSimmons was born in Hillsdale, Co., Michigan on Oct 27, 1869, and died at her home in Pratt, March 25, 1933, at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 29 days. She came with her parents to Council Grove, Morris Co., Kansas, in January of 1871. In April l1879 she moved with her parents to Pratt Co., where she lived and was married to Frank Goyen September 9, 1896. To this union were born 7 children: Corlis Dell of Cunningham, Ormond V of Los Angeles, Calif. Lionel who died in infancy, Mabel F. Kelley of Lynwood, Calif., Mrs. Helen M. Smith of Pratt, Mildred M and Laurence at home. All the children were present except Mrs. Kelley. Mrs. Goyen was preceded in death by her husband April 13, 1929. Mr. and Mrs. Goyen united with the Cairo M.E. church in 1914 and her membership remained there throughout the years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge of Cunningham. Mrs. Goyen leaves to mourn her death, her six children; three brothers, Ashley J. Newton, T. and Leslie L. FitzSimmons of Cunningham; three sisters, Alma E. Foster of Estancia, New Mexico; Avonell Weir of Isabel, Kansas; and Edna I. Nicol of Cunningham Kansas; five grandchildren, a host of relatives and many neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 27, at the First M.E. Church in Pratt, with Rev. W.E. Shiler of Cunningham and Rev. C.E King, Pratt pastor officiating. Interment was in Cairo Cemetery.
