Cynthia Diane Gilyard Carpenter, 35, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, March 10, 2000, at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville following a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Mamie Lee McIntosh Gilyard and Johnnie P. Gilyard, born November 16, 1964, in Palatka. She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County and a member of Abundant Life Ministries. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and a graduate of Palatka high School, Class of 1983. She was employed as a Convenient Store Clerk for Handy Way Food Stores until her health precluded her from working.
Her mother, Mamie Lee McIntosh Gilyard and two of her sons, Oliver Wayne Keeley and Eric Lavain Canty preceded her in eternity.
To cherish her memories are her husband, James Edward "Jim" Carpenter of Gulfport, Miss.; son, Perrin Devon Gilyard of Palatka; father, Johnnie P. (Florence) Gilyard of San Mateo; sisters, Joanne "Tina" Gilyard of Crescent City and Melissa "Lit" Gilyard of Palatka; a brother, Ronzail L. Williams of Palatka; step-son, Tyler Carpenter of Interlachen; nieces, Latina M. Hardy, Latisha RonShell Williams, Cateria Williams, Tyneka Johnson and Ronesha L. Hagans; nephews, Bruce "B.J." Hardy, Jr., Donevan L. Spell, Jr., Ronzail L. Jenkins, DeZail J. Dennis, ReKeen L. Calhoun, and Tyrel R. Johnson, all of Palatka; as a mother, Shirley Hendrieth of Palatka; several step-sisters and step-brothers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and many loving friends.
Homegoing services will be Sunday, 2 p.m. at Abundant Life Ministries with Rev. Ray Willis, Senior Pastor, as the Eulogist. Interment will be ion Oak Hill East Cemetery.
Visitation of family and friends will be Saturday, 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the "Chapel of Serenity."
