He was the son of the late Foster and Floranna Hoke Fowler.
Mr. Fowler graduated from Franklin & Marshal College in Lancaster. He served in the United States Navy as an ensign, and was stationed in the Philippines. He was prominent in the furniture business and first began his career at Red Lion Table Co. in Red Lion. He then moved to Morristown, TN, and became president of Forest Products Furniture Industries. Later in life he worked as a consultant for the World Bank in the former Yugoslavia, helping to develop furniture manufacturing companies there. After retirement he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina.
In February of this year he moved to Gainesville, where he was living at the time of his death.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Fowler of Gainesville, and Virginia Reiss of Golden, CO, and one grandson.
