Minnie was born March 9, 1920, in Balfour. She was the daughter of Anton and Helen (Weninger) Feist. She moved to Anamoose with her family and attended the Anamoose School. Minnie married Martin N. Stumpf April 29, 1942, in Mandan. Shortly after their wedding, Martin was drafted into the U.S. Army. Minnie enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in January 1943 and served proudly in Washington D.C. until her honorable discharge in August 1943. Minnie was proud and honored to have served her country.
After returning from the military, Martin and Minnie moved to Stanton, where they started Stumpf Truck Line. Minnie worked side by side with Martin hauling cattle into the Minneapolis and Fargo stock yards and materials to the Garrison Dam during its construction. In 1960, they moved to Harvey and started Harvey Sand and Gravel. She retired in 1985. Minnie was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Cecilia Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member and Past President of the Wells Eagles Auxiliary, Harvey. She was also a 60 year member of the Frank E. Curry American Legion Post No. 28 in Harvey.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Martin; her son, Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Trenton Shearer; eight grandchildren, Amy Stumpf, Andrea Stumpf, Michael Stumpf, Jr., Amanda Stumpf, Martin John Stumpf, Mark Stumpf, Nicholas Shearer and Alison Shearer, all of Harvey; two sisters, Ginny Kessler, Aberdeen, S.D., and Lena (Dean) Lampman, Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers and sisters.
