PORTLAND - Born to Sally "Kate" (Moore) and Eugene Boutwell in Portales, NM, the family moved to Oregon in 1955. Opal graduated from Woodburn High School in 1962, Phagan's School of Beauty in 1964, and the Bradford School of Business in 1987. She worked as a cosmotologist/beautician for a decade before changing careers and working at Tektronix for more than a decade. She later worked as a medical administrative assistant for medical clinics in Woodburn and Canby.
She is survived by her children Toni (Stemwedel) Chambers of Salem, Michael Stemwedel of Woodburn, Angela (Rios) Howard of Silverton, and Gabriel Rios of Pendleton; her siblings Jay Boutwell, Ruby Aljets, Pearl Kauffman, and Kay Boutwell; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
