Derrick L. Anderson, 41, of Uniontown/ Green, formerly of Orrville, is resting in the arms of the Lord as of Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, 2012, passing from this life at Summa Health System-Barberton Hospital, following six years of ill health.

Derrick was born Feb. 9, 1971 in Orrville, the son of Lee and Sharon E. (Ray) Anderson, and was a 1989 graduate of Orrville High School. He later attended Stark State College in Canton. Derrick had been employed in telemarketing prior to becoming ill. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Derrick was a member of the New Life Assembly in Wooster.

Surviving are his parents, Pastor Lee and Sharon (Ray) Anderson of Orrville; son, Devonta L. Anderson of Wooster; fiancee Toni Wilson (daughter Alexis) of Uniontown; a brother, Jerome (Christina) Anderson of Orrville; sisters, Vicki (Thomas) Webb of Akron, Tija Hensley of North Carolina, Khristy Efienne of Florida, Jhordas (Garry) DeGraffinreed of Canton, and Crystal (Gene) Maddox of Atlanta, Ga.; special nieces, LaTasha Dubose and LaTavia Brady; special nephew, Donta Dubose; and the joys of his life special great-niece, Donasja Dubose; and special great-nephew, Donta Dubose, Jr. Also, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Derrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hollis and Rose Anderson; maternal grandparents, William and Lola Ray; three uncles and two aunts.

Services will be held at the Orrville Christian Church, 925 North Elm St., Orrville, on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. with District Elder Melvin Brown officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior to the service. Assisting the family with arrangements is Auble Funeral Home in Orrville. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be made at www.aublefuneralhome.com.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216, and to the New Life Assembly, P.O. Box 193, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
