He served in U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hammonton American Legion Post F.A. Funston Post #186, Hammonton V.F.W. Post #1026 and the St. John's Society.
Surviving are his wife Joan (Salerno); son: Matthew, Jr. and his wife Patty; daughter: Cynthia and her husband Mike Corrado; sister: Marie and her husband John Bombara; five grandchildren: Olivia, Averi, Michael, Amanda and Carly. His niece Joyce and her husband Mike Wallis.
