Matthew Steven Hoffman, of Rock Tavern, NY, and Harrisburg, PA, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 26.

The son of Steven F. and Angela C. (Moresco) Hoffman, he was born May 23, 1986 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Washingtonville High School, and a 2008 graduate of Pennsylvania State University (PSU), where he was also a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He had currently been working as a Market Analyst for the Nielson Company in Harrisburg, PA, his main account being the Hershey Company. Matthew was an avid fan of baseball, especially the New York Yankees. He was also passionate about raising money and awareness to find a cure for Juvenile Cancers by dancing, sponsoring, chairing, and canning for the largest student-run philanthropic event in the country, known as THON.

Survivors include his loving parents, Steven and Angela, at home; his loving sister, Kristen Hoffman, of Albany; his maternal grandparents, Vincent and Rose Moresco of Newburgh; his girlfriend of four years, Samantha Hutz of Pottstown, PA; his aunts and uncles, Marie and Kevin Seeger of FL, Phyllis and Mike Wilson of FL, Andrew and Leslie Hoffman of Little Falls, NY, John and Susan Hoffman of IL, Vincent and Susan Moresco of Town of Newburgh, Dominic and Andrea Moresco of Marlboro, and Patty Moresco of Town of Newburgh; several cousins; many friends; and his beloved canine companion, his Golden Labrador, Jackson. Matthew was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Jane Hoffman, and his Uncle Philip "Toppy" Moresco.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, November 9 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 10 in St. Mary's Church, Washingtonville, with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery, Washingtonville.
