LOYSVILLE - John E. Davis, 91, of Loysville entered into rest on Friday, November 9, 2012 in Chapel Point at Carlisle.
John was born September 3, 1921 at Pittsburgh, Pa. to the late Frank S. and Fern E. (Reisinger). He was preceded in death by his wife to whom he was married 62 years, Janet E. (Ritter) Davis on March 11, 2006, a sister, Donna Davis and a brother, Frank S. Davis.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a retired inspector for the PA Department of Labor & Industry. He also had been employed at the former C. H. Masland & Sons in Carlisle from 1946 to 1966 and Home Insurance Company until 1983.
John was a member of Tressler Memorial Free Lutheran Church, Past Master and 62 year member of Adams Lodge 319 F&AM, New Bloomfield, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Tall Cedars of Lebanon - Juniata Valley Forest 88, Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Newport Royal Arch Chapter 238, Zembo Legion of Honor, Zembo Luncheon Club, NRA and Ickesburg Sportsmans Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman (hunter and fisherman) and loved going to camp Lookout in Potter County.
Surviving are his two daughters, Jayne Peters and her husband Barry of Shermans Dale, Susan Boldosser, Carlisle, three grandchildren, Michael Peters, Jennifer Lamason, David Boldosser and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 15, 2012 in the Tressler Memorial Free Lutheran Church, 3581 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Viewing will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday in the church. A masonic service will be held at 7:45 PM Wednesday in the funeral home with all masons invited. Burial will be in the Restland Cemetery, Loysville.
