Thomas Alfred Mountford Jr Immigrated from England to Canada in 7 September 1876 aboard the Circassian with the rest of his family at age 4. They landed in Quebec then making there way to Ontario via train to the end of the line. Then by barge ran by natives to there settlement in the Muskoka Lakes region. Thomas acquired land near Bracebridge on Brandy Lake where they lived a few years in a log cabin. Verbal family record indicates 2 or more stillborn/infant burials on the homestead. By 1881 the family had made there way to Toronto where they were successful in tool manufacturing, etc. This became the family business that had doings in Toronto, New Jersey, New York, & more. Thomas Alfred Mountford St's father was George Mountford of Birmingham England . He was a well-known machinist that operated a machine shop on Brass House Passage in Birmingham England. Thomas Alfred Jr Immigrated to New Jersey USA in 1900 after marrying Paulina Amelia Hicks.
