Matilda was born 10 April, 1853, in Quebec, Canada, to Joseph Touchette and Onessima Vient.
She moved from Canada to Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin in 1855, with her parents, brother Joseph and sisters "P", Josephine, and Virginia.
On 19 September, 1871, Matilda married Jeremiah Gervais/Jerry Jarvis, son of Calixte Gervais and Salomee Yelle, at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Fond Du Lac.
Matilda and Jerry were the parents of 11 children: Albert Joseph, Emma, Unknown male, Ella, Estella "Stella", Jerry "Jay" Jr., Goldie, John Louis, James Wolford, George and Isabelle.

Mrs. Mathilda Jarvis, Native of Canada, Dies At Stapleton Home.
Mrs. Mathilda Jarvis, 77, a resident of the city practically all her life died at 12:10 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.M. Stapleton, 297 Fifth street after an extended illness. She was confined to her bed for the last two months.

Born April 10, 1853, in St Nazareth, near Montreal, she came to this city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Touchette when two years of age. She was married in 1871 to Mr. Jarvis in the old St. Joseph's church. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary nine years ago. Mr. Jarvis died seven years ago last October. Had Mrs. Jarvis lived until Friday she would have been 78 years old.

Surviving are 10 children. Mrs. Stapleton and Mrs. W.G. Mendel of this city. Albert in Waukesha, Mrs. Joseph McGuire of Manitowas, Mrs. Stella Petersen, Jay, James and George of Chicago, John of Los Angeles and Mrs. Walter J. Ward of Des Moines; two brothers, Edward Touchette of this city and Henry Touchette of Ballard, Wash, 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jarvis was a member of the Holy Name society of Milwaukee, the Altar society of St. Joseph's church and St. Agnes court, W.C.O.F. The body was taken to Geo. M. Dugan funeral home and will removed from there to the Stapleton residence early Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from St. Joseph's church with burial at Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Virginia Roberts, a sister of Mrs. Jarvis, died march 31 at Seattle, according to word received here today."
