John H. Geary, 86, of Plains Township, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Plains Township, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Hope Geary.

He graduated from the former Plains Memorial High School and attended Penn State University.

He played the piano for silent movies and later taught piano lessons in Plains Township.

Before retiring, he was employed by the Henry Colliery Coal Co. and George Roberts Contracting Co., Forty Fort.

He and his wife, the former Emily Howells, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last May.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John, Plains; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Dymond, Shippensburg; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 South Main St., Plains, with the Rev. William Lukesh officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton, Franklin Township.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Plains Presbyterian Church, 31 South Main St., Plains, 18705.
