Married twice: Lee Alton Daniel 7 October 1922 DeKalb County, AL--Divorced
Charles Scharp 21 August 1926 Birmingham, Jefferson, AL.

Laura made a profession of faith as a child, but she wanted her way in life. After seeing her way of living was not satisfying, she went forward to rededicate her life to the Lord under the ministry of Rev. Glen Tingley at the Birmingham Gospel Tabernacle. As she grew in the Lord, she pressured Rev. Tingley to begin an Alliance Church in East Lake. She became one of the charter members serving on the Board for the new East Lake Alliance Church in 1932. Laura became known for her gift of teaching Child Evangelism. People have mentioned how the children would flock around her and how they adored her. She was also loved by adults. Her Bible and mission lessons in flannel graph were outstanding. She was so good at keeping your attention and driving home the Gospel message. She helped many area churches conduct VBS. She taught the teachers at East Lake how to use flannel graph. In those days, you made all your backgrounds and figures. Laura was able to improve on the written lessons that Child Evangelism Fellowship provided. Many hundreds of children came to the Lord as a result of her teaching and prayers. Many adults also were saved by her witness. Laura's mission, or put in Biblical terms, for Laura, life meant Christ! She told everyone--that she knew Jesus! Her daughter said that if she were still in the body, she would be going around greeting everyone. She loved people. But she had one question she wanted answered: "Do you love my Lord?" She would say to you "No matter what you have achieved in life, you still need Him! There is nothing else that is greater in life. Do you know Jesus?" Laura stayed in Birmingham until 1995. She went with her family to Toccoa Nursing Home and there had a great prayer ministry for all the residents. There she was known as The Praying Lady until she passed into the presence of her loving and living Lord God, Jesus Christ. Her witness today, based on her life, would be, "For me to live eternally in Christ!"
