Elmer Lindell, 63, struck head on; kin of Titusville vicinity woman
Elmer Marion Lindell, 63, of Tidioute was killed instantly at 6:50 pm Saturday by a Pennsylvania Railroad freight train as he was crossing the railroad tracks in that Warren County community.
State Police of the Warren substation said Mr. Lindell had been crossing diagonally over the tracks toward his home when the 87 car train hit him head-on.
Mr. Lindell was thrown for some distance, across the tracks. Warren County Coroner Ed C. Lowrey issued a verdict of accidental death.
The train was southbound from Olean, NY to Oil City when the accident occurred. The engineer was OC Golden of Franklin.
Mr. Lindell who was not married, was crossing the railroad tracks to his small home located near the tracks. State Police said he apparently was returning from town.
Mr. Lindell was born Aug 18, 1894 in Warren County, a son of Aaron and Jennie Sodergreen Lindell. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred Cotterman of Titusville, RD1; four nephews and two nieces.
