Donald G. Martel of Norton died Nov. 3, 2012, in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, at the age of 59. Donny was born in Providence, R.I., son of the late Yvonne Rose (Gauthier) and Joseph N.G. Martel. Donald graduated from Brockton High School and earned an associates degree from Massasoit Community College in Computer Science. He was a member of the Baalis Sanford Lodge AF&AM and past worthy patron of the Brockton Chapter 87 Order of Eastern Star, past vice president and board member of Bourne Youth Baseball Association. Don worked over 30 years for Forecaster of Boston as a computer engineer. He was the husband of Susan D. (Colburn) Martel; father of Joseph J. and Timothy J. of Bourne; brother of Peter J. Martel and his wife Becky of Norton. Also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Lawrence J. Martel of Manchester, N.H. Memorial visitation Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Prophett Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held during the visiting hours at 3:30 p.m. The celebration of the life of Donald will continue with dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Stoneforge Restaurant in Raynham, immediately after his memorial service.
