A. J. Andre, native of Powellsville, died at 4:30 a.m. today in Holzer hospital, Gallipolis, of heart ailment. He was 76.
A son of the late Peter and Mary Hudson Andre, he was born July 23, 1870. He lived at Lyra until last January when he moved to Oak Hill.
Mr. Andre was married in 1898 to Emma Wheeler, who preceded him in death. Their only son, Harold, died in 1918.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Emory of Waverly and Mrs. Lillie Wheeler of Oak Hill. Five brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Mr. Andre was a member of Antioch Baptist church where last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. John Kemper in charge. Burial will be in old Wheelersburg cemetery under direction of McCurdy & Scott funeral home. The body is at the Collett residence on route 52 in Wheelersburg.
