James Leo Valentine, 79, of Harrison died Sunday (Jan. 1, 2006) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.
Born May 20, 1926, in Zinc, son of the late Claude Laverne and Gladys Faye Kelley Valentine, he was a World War II Army veteran, a deacon of Eagle Heights Baptist Church for 45 years and retired after 18 years as supervisor of transportation for Harrison Public Schools.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Carl Valentine.
Survivors are his wife, Edna Fullerton Valentine; a son, Steven James of Harrison; a daughter, Janice Kaye Knoles of Harrison; a sister, Louis Williams of Conway; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Eagle Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Herring officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons or to Eagle Heights Baptist Church Building Fund at 703 E. Waters, Harrison, Ark. 72601.
