Pfc. John (Jack) Roush, LeMars
youth, member of Company K, was
killed in action July 16 while serving
in the army in Normandy, The
news of his death was received by
Mrs. O. J . Schultz of Stanton town-
ship, in a letter from her sister. Mrs.
Fred Dahlin, of West Bend, Ind., the
mother of Pvt. Roush. Pvt. Roush
was a son of the late Merle and
Mrs. Roush and spent most of his
life in LeMars. Merle Roush was a
well known rural mail carrier in Le Mars
for over twenty-five years and
died about five years ago. His wife
and children subsequently moved to
Omaha and then to Northfield,
Minr^.
Jack Roush was born in Le Mars,
Novehiber 7, 1918, where he grew
up and received his education. He
enlisted in Company K and went
with the first contingent from Plymouth
county to Camp Claiborne, La.,
and served with other members of
the company in Ireland, England
and North Africa and France. He
was transferred to Company F when
ordered to Normandy.
Besides his mother he leaves a
sister, Arlene Roush, who is employed
in Minneapolis.
