GROTON - Frederick C. Bond, 86, of Groton, died on November 7, 2012.
He was born in Arlington, MA on Feb. 16, 1926, the son of the late Albert and Signe (Johnson) Bond. Fred spent his early life in Arlington, and the came to Groton where he graduated from Groton High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during WWll and was stationed in the Philippines at General MacArthur's headquarters.
After the war, he entered Bentley College and graduated in 1948 with an Associate's Degree in Accounting.
Fred then worked for J.P. Sullivan Corp in Ayer for over 60 years as accountant and treasurer.
A longtime resident of Groton, Fred served on the School Committee, School Building Committee, was a Trustee of North Middlesex Savings Bank, and was co-founder and served on the Board of Directors at Nashoba Credit Union. He loved playing golf, gardening, and being with his family.
Mr. Bond is survived by his wife, Helene (Livingston) Bond of Groton; a son, David and his wife, Kathryn Bond of Temple, NH; and a daughter, Nancy and her husband, Roy MacGregor of Groton; and four grandchildren, Molly and Samantha Bond, and Peter and Kyle MacGregor.
He was also the brother of the late Albert G. Bond Jr.
BOND - A Graveside Service will be held at the Groton Cemetery, Groton, MA, on Mon., Nov. 12 at
2 p.m. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Groton Dunstable Sports Boosters Club, C/O GDHS, Groton, MA 01450 or the Joslin Clinic, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
