In the 1900 U.S. Census, farmer James Gillispie, 37, born Maine, father born N.B., mother born Ireland, was living in Alexander, Maine, with Nellie, 26, born Maine, , father born N.B., mother born Maine; Sarah, 6; and Magret, 3, both born in Maine; and widowed mother Mary, 81, born Ireland, parents born Ireland.
They had been married for sevan years and both of their children were living.

Theophilus J. Gillespie, 28, of Alexander married Nellie Sullivan, 22, of Cooper on April 22, 1893 at the Methodist Parsonage in St. Stephen.

In the 1880 U.S. Census, farmer John Sullivan, 33, born Canada, parents born Ireland, was living in Cooper, Maine, with Maggie, 27, born Maine, parents born Ireland; Daniel W., 7; Nellie, 5; Thomas, 4; and Frank, 2, all born in Maine; and farmer Levi Flood, 51, born Maine, father born N.H., mother born Vermont.

In May 1873 Bridget Crowley sold by deed (134-67) to John Sullivan, likely of Cooper, all this lot excepting the buildings and two acres that went to Edmund Monroe for a legal debt. Sullivan gave George Granger of Calais a quit claim deed (134-369) for this property in August 1873. The deed states that Robert Thistlewood occupied the lot on that day.
