Born Aug. 15, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Jack and Irene Wynkoop Emery.
He was a retired painter with the Pullman Standard Co.
Mr. Emery was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He belonged to Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Mark (Susan) Schuler of Butler; two sons, David Emery Jr. of Pittsburgh and Michael Emery of Butler; nine grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a brother, Harry Emery of New Galilee, Pa.; and two sisters, Mrs. Jean Brown of Butler and Mrs. Dot Porter of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Emery, who died Dec. 29, 1999.

EMERY - Friends of David R. Emery Sr., who died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday from the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church, with Pastor James Lynn officiating. Burial will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Centennial Building, 241 Fourth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
