Robert Boyer was born at Independence, VA, April 27, 1854. His early life was spent near his birth-place, where as a young man. He united with the Baptist Church and remained a devoted Christian through his entire life. As the age of 22 years as he was united in marriage to Sarah Daniels of North Branch, Virginia. To this union was born eight children seven of whom survive. They are Mrs. John F. Woods of Henton, Texas; Kyle Boyer of Battle Creek, Nebraska; Mrs. J. A. Mickey of Huntington Park, California; Charles N. Boyer and Fielden S. Boyer of Mullen, Nebr. S. T. Boyer of Bell, California; W. H. Boyer of Tucson, Arizona..
On March 28, 1893, Sarah Boyer was called in death. Later Mr. Boyer was married to Alverda Elliott of Battle Creek, Nebraska, to which union was born three children, two surviving; Mrs. H. A. Drake of Sherman, New York and Tom Boyer of Maywood, California..
In the pioneer days of the West, Mr. Boyer and Sarah migrated to Madison County, Nebr. where he lived with his family until 1900. He then moved westward again by wagon to South Cherry County. He was among the first homesteaders in that section..
Among the many things Mr. Boyer did for his neighborhood was the donation of the land for the building of Dry Valey Church and Cemetery. From that community he moved to Mullen where he lived until 1923. When he and wife Alverda, with two grandsons, moved to California. He resided there until his death with his wife and several children. He leaves his children, two brothers, Eph Boyer of Olathe, Colorado and Joe Boyer of Juntura, Oregon and one sister Mrs. Irene Long of Mullen, Nebr. 30 grand-children and 15 reat grand children and many friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church, Maywood, California..
