John Jesse Hedge, age 64 of Pulaski went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. John was born November 7, 1948 in Baltimore, MD to the late Jesse James Hedge and Betty Berger Jakubik. He was also preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jeff Hedge; brother-in-law, Clarence "Cotton" Bell. John was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired from Alliant Tech with over 30 years service. He was proud member of the High School Class of 1967. "For laughter doeth good, like a medicine", Proverbs 17-31. Surviving are his wife, Melody Elkins Hedge, Pulaski; sons, John Warren Hedge, Colorado Springs, CO, Trevor Vaughn Hedge, Pulaski; step son, Rodney Brian Atkinson, Orting, WA; mother, Marie Hedge, Snowville; step mother, Pauline Hedge, Snowville; sisters & brothers-in-law, Lydia Bell, Hopewell, VA, Brenda & Phillip Weatherington, Valdosta, GA, Connie & Tim Lancaster, Winston Salem, NC; brothers & sisters-in-law, Jimmy Hedge, Snowville, Douglas & Bridgett Hedge, Pulaski, Don & Robin Hedge, Shiloh, Edward Jakubik, Baltimore, MD, Steven & Chris Jakubik, Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Rebecca & Joe Plemons, Indian Head, MD. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski with Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin with full military honors conducted by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.
