Beverly McPherson, 79, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, in the presence of her loving family.

Beverly was born December 26, 1932, in Des Moines, to Clarence and Goldie Smith. She graduated from East High School and retired from the Des Moines Airport. While working at the airport, Beverly met several celebrities. She enjoyed playing Bingo, singing, visiting the Wisconsin Dells, shopping, driving her Cougar, country music, and dancing the jitterbug, in which she won several contests. Beverly was a private person, but was very family oriented and involved with her great-grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by her grandchildren, Jason (Annie) Halsband, Johnna Halsband, Tracie (Travis) Martin, Tommie Halsband, Shelbie Zimmerman, Toby Zimmerman, and Jacob Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Halsband, Dana Halsband, Addam Bennethum, Erik Bennethum, Alexandria Martin, and several others; sister, Shirley Smith; nieces, Bonnie Jean, Candy, Toni, and Norrea; nephew, Bobby; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McPherson; children, Steve, Larry, and Debbie; eight siblings; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
