Moved to Beaumont as an infant; graduated from Charlton-Pollard High School; earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Talladega College (Alabama) and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Chicago; also attended San Francisco State
Her first 20 years of teaching were spent as a diligent educator at the Charlton-Pollard High School,. In 1943, she moved to San Francisco and served the next 25 years in the classroom and as a junior high school assistant principal in San Francisco Schools. In 1972, Mrs. Lumbert retired and returned to Beaumont.
Affiliations and Honors: She was the organizer and a member of the Charlton-Pollard High School Alumni Association; member of the Southeast Texas Board of the Commission on Aging; member of ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. in Beaumont and San Francisco
For her service and participation at The Best Years Center, she was recognized with a room named in her honor
She is remembered by former students who care and share throughout the years with gifts of love on her birthday and other special occasions
A faithful member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as Sunday School teacher; chairperson of the Finance Committee; and member of the Building Fund and Benevolent Committees
