John Gilles Dies As Car Hits Bridge


Three young people, one of them a 1955 graduate of Chilton High School, were killed in an auto accident near Valders about 1 o’clock Monday morning.

Killed were John Gilles, 18, Route 4, Chilton, the Son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Gilles; Barbara Louise Konik, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Konik, Route 1, Newton, a junior at Central High School, Sheboygan; and Margaret Ann Stein, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stein, Route 1, Newton, a senior at Kiel High school.
Driver of the car is Thomas Schwartz, 17, who is confined to Holy Family hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services for Margaret (Margie) Ann Stein, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stein of Rt. 1, Newton, who was one of the trio of teen agers who lost her life from injuries sustained in an automobile accident south
of Valders early Monday morning were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
The Rev. John P. Baum was celebrant at the requiem high mass and the adult choir of which Miss Stein was a member, sang the mass…
The senior class of Kiel High School of which Miss Stein was a student, attended the services in a body. Miss Stein was also a member of the St. Monica society of the parish.
Burial was made in the adjoining church cemetery.
