He worked as a firefighter and paramedic for the East Alton Fire Department. He was employed there for 14 years until his retirement in 1999. After that, he worked for the Madison County Sheriff's Department until he passed away.
At the time of his death, Duane was 45 years, 1 month and 22 days old.
He was survived by 2 daughters; his mother; his paternal grandmother, Bernice Bruch of Golden Eagle; 1 sister and her husband; 1 brother and his wife; his mother-in-law, Rachel Wiggins; 3 aunts and 1 uncle; 1 niece; 7 nephews; 1 great-nephew; and several cousins.
Duane was preceded in death by his father, Red; 1 brother, Garry Rose; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Mildred Triplett; his grandfather, Bill Rose; and father-in-law, the Rev. Jesse Wiggins.
Visitation was held on 06 Sep 2005 at the Bethalto Church of God in Bethalto. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning. Marks Mortuary in Wood River was in charge of arrangements.
Duane was an organ donor. The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to Backstoppers.
