Pauline Marie Griffin, 92, of Williamstown, died Thursday (May 17, 2012) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug, 27, 1919 in Newport, Ohio to Carl and Elizabeth Shaw Nolan.

She was a graduate of Marietta Business College. Mrs. Griffin was an avid and accomplished golfer. She was Club Champion at Marietta Country Club on 13 different occasions, as well as participating in many other area tournaments during a career that spanned four decades. Mrs. Griffin was also a very accomplished businesswoman who, along with her late husband, Charles W. Griffin, operated The Griffin Electric Co. for over 50 years. She was also actively involved in other family businesses. She was a loving and compassionate family matriarch that while sorely missed, is now with her Lord in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ann DeVol and son in law, Larry P. DeVol of Williamstown; three step children, William Griffin, Gretchen Hoffman, both of Williamstown and Gordon Griffin of California; two grandchildren, Jeffrey P. DeVol of Williamstown and Kelley J. DeVol Hockensmith of Huntersville, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles W. Griffin and step son, Charles R. Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday (May 21, 2012) at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Sylvia Miles, ALP officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown.
